Homemakers Union Foundation (HUF) was founded In 1989, by a group of homemakers in Taiwan who decided to take environmental and social issues into their own hands. For the past 30 years, HUF has focused on Food & Agriculture Education (including food security) and Green Energy. We have advocated issues such as reducing carbon emission in our daily lives, green consumption, green diet, green energy, and nuclear-free causes. With climate change becoming a threat to humanity, we believe that actions must be taken urgently at all levels, from grassroots communities to policy-makers. Hence much of our work involves raising public awareness and supervising the government to implement green policies. "Be brave to express, be ready to act, and be willing to take responsibilities,” is the motto of our organization. HUF also highlights the role of gender equality and female empowerment in our causes.
